James Bond Famous Aston Martin DB5 Stolen
Bond Could Have Used A GPS Tracking System
What would James Bond be thinking about this situation? The most famous vehicle to ever grace the silver screen, James Bond’s fabled 1963 Aston Martin DB5, was stolen from a secured airport hangar in the early Summer months of 1997. The thieves were able to pull off the heist in 007 fashion, cutting a secure hatch, dismantling alarm wires, and then hot-wiring the secret agent’s prized possession, driving it off into the sunset. What is most shocking about the crime was that of all the James Bond gadgets used throughout his spy career, a simple GPS tracking system would probably have prevented the car from disappearing permanently.
Anthony Pugliese, the owner of the Aston Martin, stated in disbelief that it really doesn’t make sense why someone would want to steal the car that made jaws drop in Goldfinger and Thunderball. He explained that a car that was so recognizable could never be driven on public streets without someone noticing. The unique characteristics of the car include machine guns, bulletproof glass, and an ejection seat on the passenger side. Pugliese was hopeful that law enforcement authorities would be able to successfully track down the vehicle. However, if he would have taken preventative measures and installed a live GPS tracking system he could have easily tracked down the car himself and could have done it faster than the detectives working the theft case.
GPS Tracking Systems and Luxury Cars
Many rich and famous people spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on luxury items such as houses, yachts, and exotic cars. Purchasing luxury items has not only a high cost but it also carries a high risk because most thieves usually like to steal the best of the best.
A small investment in a live tracking GPS unit such as the SpaceHawk GPS could assure the protection of valuable assets.
So Is There A Solution To Auto-Theft?
Most people typically take out large insurance policies on their high-value assets, but for vehicular assets, such as boats and exotic cars, GPS devices tend to be the most popular choice for additional protection. Vehicle tracking systems provide a simple way for owners of exotic assets to have access to the locations of their assets at all times. The GPS trackers even have the ability to send communication to the vehicle’s owner by text message or email if the vehicle enters or exits a prearranged location. A $400.00 investment in a GPS tracking system can provide additional security to any high-cost or valuable asset.
GPS trackers can be monitored online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What Would Bond Think?
James Bond was always thinking ahead and viewed life as a chess match. If he ever felt his life or even his car were in danger he would have taken extensive security measures. Bond would never have left his prized vehicle in a hangar without a GPS tracker being installed in it if he felt that the car could potentially be stolen. In fact, his GPS tracking system probably would have been disguised as a cigarette lighter or stylish pair of sunglasses. Bond may have even used a GPS tracking system to keep tabs on his female companions since he always seemed to know when they were engaging with the enemy.
